Summing Up ;)

Hey everyone!

We're really sorry that we haven't posted until now. Our days have been so busy and it's been difficult to sit down at night (when we have free-time) to write. But we'll do our best to catch you up on what's been going on :)

We're in Africa….. we're actually in Africa. That fact took a little while to sink in. Everything here is so different. I wish that I could explain what exactly makes Africa so different from home but I can't find the words. There are the obvious things like the land and the people, and then other things like their culture that you really need to see to understand fully. It is such a beautiful country, it is so colorful and everyone is so kind even though there is much hardship. They are always smiling and welcoming us with handshakes and hugs.

We were welcomed very warmly into Nagongera by many of Dad's friends. It was a real blessing for the people here to be so happy to see us. They surprised us with a little party, some chocolate cake, a huge basket of fruit, and soda (which tastes much better here than in the US).

These past few days we have been meeting a lot of people… mostly people that work for my Dad or kids in the sponsorship program or relatives of those people. But there are always people that he has never met that stop us in the street because they want to greet us because we are 'muzungus' (which basically means white person).

We also took some time in the morning yesterday (before it got too hot) to climb the "Rock of Tororo", which is pretty much a small mountain. It's a short hike but very steep, and the view from the top was beautiful. We promise we'll post pictures.

Today we visited the children's homes and taught them some games, had a scavenger hunt, face-painted them, and gave them some gifts. It was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed seeing their big smiles and hearing them laugh.
